PRESENTATION: Box of 1 tube x 10 g
ACTIONS:
Miconazole is a synthetic imidazole agent which possesses an antifungal activity against Aspergillus, Blastomyces, Candida, Cladosporium, Coccidioides, Epidermophyton, Histoplasma, Madurella, Pityrosporon, Microsporon, Paracoccidioides, Phialophora, Pseudallescheria and Trichophyton. It is also active against Gram-positive bacteria.
Miconazole activity is based on the inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis and the change in lipid in the fungal cell wall membrane due to interfering with 14a-demetylase (belonging to microsomal cytochrome P450); this causes membranous dysfunction and inhibits the growth of fungi.
After external use, miconazole gives a topically antifungal action; the amount of drug absorbed by the horny layer of skin into blood is below 1 per cent.
