ACTIONS: Tears are a special liquid and play an important role in protecting the eye surface. The thin aqueous layer serves to protect and lubricate the eyes, to conserve healthy eyes and to give a comfortable feeling. However, in some people associated with deficient tears production or lack of important components in tears resulted in symptoms of dry eye: uncomfortable feeling of stinging eyes, tired eyes.

Dry-eye symptoms usually occur in the elderly specially women, contact lenses wearers or frequent computer users. The symptoms tend to be made worse by environmental harmful factors such as dry air, mist, smoke, and wind. Allergies, vitamin deficiency, and arthritis also affect the tears membrane.

The dry-eye symptoms are effectively treated with Eyelight Tears (artificial tears). With hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 0.3% and dextran 70 0.1%, Eyelight Tears helps to abate the feeling of dry, stinging, tired eyes. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and dextran 70 are hydrogels that are endowed with the property of swelling up in water and retaining moisture. The mucous adhesive property also helps in prolonging the time tears stay on the eye. Eyelight Tears smooths the corneal surface of dry-eye patients, an effect that contributes to improved vision.
